The above school was initiated with the purpose of helping the small children who were affected by the Tsunami in memory of The Most Venerable Madhihe Pannaseeha Mahanayaka Thero.

Although the then government agreed to purchase this land which housed a small building for this purpose, it did not materialize. But the Janavijaya Foundation did pay an advance and purchase the land & the building.

To our children’s fortune Reverend Helgo Mathias Haak of the Ahrensberg from Germany came to our assistance and paid the balance and completed the transaction.

Reverend Helgo Mathias Haak who has been a very close associate of  Venerable Madhihe Pannaseeha Thero for a long time, had this vision of helping Sri Lanka since he started this true friendship and understanding towards our country and the people through the deep association of Madhihe Thero as he himself stayed in the Dharmayathanaya even 25 years ago. On many occasions and Ven. Thero stayed at his place in Germany when ever he visited Germany.

The Moment he heard about the disaster done by the Tsunami, He decided that this was the best time to help Sri Lanka and in the Memory of his friend Ven. Madihe Nayaka Thero.
Then the Reverand contacted Venrable Maharagama Dhammasiri Nayake Thero, who immediately mentioned the word “Village Madihe" This leads his involvement in this project.
